- Protection of frame structures
(with prof. B. Briseghella, prof. A. Contento)
A method involving two tuned mass dampers (TMDs) coupled with each other and embedded in bridges connecting two adjacent tower buildings
is studied to enhance the seismic performance of the individual structures.
- Geotechnical Seismic Isolation on Post-Tensioned Rocking Piers
(with prof. B. Briseghella, prof. A. Contento)
This research investigates the use of Geotechnical Seismic Isolation (GSI) inr post-tensioned rocking piers equipped with
external energy dissipation devices. The main focus of the investigation is the comparative assessment of the effectiveness of external
dissipators and GSI.
- Hyteretic hrizontal and vertical base isolation of asymmetric rigid blocks
A double hysteretic base isolation system, able to act on the horizonatal and vertical dynamic of asymmetric rigid blocks is
proposed. Such a device aims to protect monolithic objects of arts from seismic events, reducing the rocking angle and avoiding the
overturning of the rigid object.
- Longitudinal and transversal protection of pipelines within underground utility tunnels
The study focuses on the vibration isolation strategies for pipelines within utility tunnels with an emphasis on both longitudinal
and transversal isolation. A low-dimensional mechanical model will be employed to capture tunnel-content interactions under seismic
excitation.
